The Free Software Awards 2007 : an edition under the banner of internationalisations.

vendredi 29 février 2008

The 2007 edition was chaired by Georg Greve, President of the FSF Europe. We thank him again for his excellent work.

For the first time this year, a display area has been specially created for the exposure of the projects. New also in 2007, the creation of a "showroom" allowing projects to present them self in 3 minutes in front of the public.

As in the last year, a general debriefing was held the next morning.

The participants appreciated the quality of the organization and have noticed the development of the involvement of foreign countries (+60% foreign projects in 2007 compared with 20% in 2006). All interventions was conducted in English, which required the presence of 2 interpreters during the 2 days.

Media coverage has been extended this year with publications in the foreign press (Switzerland, Finland, for example). A broadcast entirely devoted to this ceremony has been produced and distributed by FreeNews TV (45 to 65000 unique visitors per day).

The number of visits on the competition website has also been three times larger than last year with more specifically, a great success for the presentation page of the projects.

The preparation of the next edition is already underway thanks to the many proposals that have emanated from debriefing, held the day after the ceremony.
