Bioclipse

Bioclipse is a rich-client for chemo- and bioinformatics, providing means to integrate various open source tools available in those fields. The approaches of integration are based on the Eclipse Rich-Client-Platform include the use of common Views and Editors to process data, and the use of the extension point architecture for integration of third party libraries.
The Bioclipse project is aimed at creating a Java-based, open source, visual platform for chemo- and bioinformatics based on the Eclipse Rich Client Platform (RCP). Bioclipse, as any RCP application, is based on a plugin architecture that inherits basic functionality and visual interfaces from Eclipse, such as help system, software updates, preferences, cross-platform deployment etc. Bioclipse provides functionality for chemo- and bioinformatics, and extension points that easily can be extended by plugins to provide added functionality. Bioclipse 1.1.3 includes a chemoinformatic plugins based on the CDK, a 3D visualization plugin based on Jmol, a plugin to support NMR spectra, a general logging plugin, and biofinformatics functionality via the BioJava library.
